Flagyl ER (Metronidazol)

Usage indications

Flagyl ER is an antibiotic. It fights bacteria in your body. Flagyl ER is used to treat bacterial infections of the vagina, stomach, skin, joints, and respiratory tract. This medication will not treat a vaginal yeast infection. Flagyl ER may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

Mode of application

Use Flagyl ER in accordance with your doctors indications. Strictly follow the indications specified in this manual
Flagyl ER is for inside intake at least  1 hour before meal or 2 hours aft meal. The pill should be taken fully without chewing.  Take Flagyl ER full course for a complete treatment of your infection. Continue taking it even if you feel better in few days

Mechanism of action

Flagyl ER is an oral antiprotozoal and antibacterial. It is thought to work by entering the bacterial cell, acting on some components of the cell and destroying the bacteria.

Missed dozes

During single miss of doze intake, it is necessary to take the doze as soon as possible. If the time of missed doze intake corresponds to the time of next doze intake the drug intake should be missed. The double dosage is prohibited for intake.

Storage

Flagyl ER should be stored at room temperature away from light sources.

Precautions

DO not use  Flagyl ER, if:

you are allgic to any of Flagyl  components or oth nitroimidazoles (e.g. tinizadol)
you are on the first trimest of pregnancy
you take  busulphan, spur alkaloids ( e.g. gotamine), or you take disulphiram within  recent 2 weeks
you take AIDS proteases inhibitors, containing  alcohol (e.g. amprenavir).  Be sure to consult your doctor if you are not sure if the drugs you takes are compatible with the aforementioned drug .

Be sure to contact your doctor immediately if any of the following relates to you.
Some medical preparations can intact with Flagyl ER.

Be sure to inform your doctor on any of the following situations or diseases:

• pregnancy, plans to get pregnant or breast feeding
• the intake of any drugs sold with or without prescription, vegetable preparations or food add-ons
• allgy to any drugs, food or oth agents,
• diseases of nves, brain, blood, Krohn disease or liv problems

Some medical preparations can intact with Flagyl ER.

Be sure to inform your doctor if you take oth drugs specified  below:

• Barbiturates ( e.g. phenobarbital)  or phenitoine as they can decrease the efficiency of Flagyl ER
• anticoagulants ( e.g. varfarin ),  busulfan, spur alkaloids ( e.g. gotamine),  AIDS proteases inhibitors containing alcohol ( e.g. the solution of  amprenavir),  lithium or macrolide immune depressants ( e.g. takrolimus) as the risk of their side effects can be increased during the intake of Flagyl ER
• disulfiram as  it might cause such side  effect as the change of mood,
• oral contraceptives as their efficiency can be decreased due to the intake of  Flagyl ER

Side effects

Be sure to consult your doctor if any of the most widespread side effects psists or irritates:

• loss of appetite, constipation, diarrhea, giddiness, metallic smell in the mouse, nausea, stomach upset, vomiting.

Be sure to contact your doctor immediately if any of the following sious side effects occur:

• heavy allgic reactions ( rash, nettle rash, breathing difficulties, chest constraints, mouse, face, lips or tongue edema), bloody stool, increased or decreased urination, limbs’ dumbness,   hands or legs twinging or burning, heavy diarrhea, sore throat, shiving, stomach pain or spasms, vaginal itch , smell, white sports in the mouse.
